This session is suitable for absolute beginners. Bargello has a long history – first seen during the 17th century on a series of chairs in the Bargello Palace in Florence.
Modern Bargello resurfaced in the 1970s using tapestry wool onto cloth or plastic canvas. Bargello stitches are sewn along several squares of canvas, creating beautiful patterns by using a limited palette of colours.
We’ll be using large tapestry needles and wool to make bookmarks with fringing. This workshop is suitable for everyone and all materials are provided – we use plastic canvas and large holed needles to make bookmarks.
