St Peter’s Oratory
A new feature of Saint Columba’s House is the inclusion of this impressive quiet oratory in the tower on the first floor. This circular oratory can be used as a quiet contemplative space for small to medium groups. The oratory is lined with cedar wood and patinated copper plate and is lit by a skylight drawing the eye up to the heavens, and is reminiscent of an ancient cedar grove.
The newly built oval altar was consecrated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams.
Adjacent to the oratory is a small north-facing roof meditation space for warmer days and evenings.
